The safety of firefighters and the public are the highest priority for incident management. The objective is to contain the fire in the Middle Springs drainage, utilizing fuel type changes, natural breaks, and burnout operations. The fire is currently being managed under a confine/contain strategy due to fuel conditions, geographic location and values at risk. Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UASs) were utilized to patrol outside containment lines and assisted in finding spots. Spot fires were readily suppressed by firefighters on the scene. The burning was within containment lines and the fire didn’t directly challenge lines but some embers caused spot fires. This produced a lot of smoke which was visible for miles. Beyond the incredible trailer, I got to see a bit of some early portions of Firewatch while I talked with the Campo Santo team. After seeing the way he interacts with Campo Santo's version of Wyoming, it almost makes other first-person games feel static. When he shields his eyes from an imposing orange sun, grabs a low-hanging ceiling as he bends underneath it, or nonchalantly brushes aside a branch, it helps form a triangular bond between the player, Henry, and the world around him. The way Henry interacts with the world around him in natural ways is something that is rarely seen in first-person games. From there, the trailer becomes all about gameplay, which highlights the fact that A) Firewatch is uniquely gorgeous and visually unlike any other game I’ve ever seen, and B) the subtle animations that Henry goes through as he moves about the world do an incredible job of helping us feel like we’re truly in the body of this character. The team doesn't want to reveal the cast quite yet, but fans of recent award-winning television and games might be able to put a face to the two actors. From there, the writing and voice work immediately pulled me in, creating a real emotional bond between the two characters while dipping its toes into the mysterious elements of the story that Campo Santo are keeping quiet on. The soft breeze teases through the flags on the tower, while sparse guitar helps set the mood. The opening immediately pulls us into the quiet, serene, and gorgeous world. As you can see from the trailer above, Firewatch adeptly nails those three tenents I mentioned before.
